Multimedia Presentation Choices

Let us know here what option you’d prefer for presenting your multimedia projects. It would be great if you could rank them as well in case things are close.
Option 1: Do the presentations as a whole group, with each person getting about 3 minutes.
Option 2: Split into two groups, with each person getting about 6 minutes.
Option 3: Post the projects online and we (either Anne and myself or the class as a whole) will select several for discussion during the final week of class.

I am awfully fond of Option 3, then Option 1, lastly Option 2. 😛 (edit: replaced last one with 2)
(further edit: um, according to class… maybe have a voting system for option 3? or what if we chose categories (like, gender as technology, technology in relation to gender, etc?)

I’d go with option 3, as well, but I’d like it to be a class decision based on which the class finds most interesting.

I agree with others; I like option 3 best and then 2 and 1.
Some brainstorming about how to handle option 3: Perhaps we can commit to commenting on each other’s presentations over the few days between when they go up and when we discuss them, and see what conversations take off & that we want to continue in class? Or… maybe we can look at the projects and then post questions/thoughts for one another and Anne and Laura can pick out some of the ones that sound generative to pull out and discuss? Or perhaps, once we post them, Anne & Laura (or us!) will be able to see parallels and common themes between different projects and could group them together to talk about on each day based on different ways that they seem to “speak” to each other?
I vote for option 1. My second choice would be option 3.
3, 1, 2. voting online, with you guys making a final decision (as you discussed in class weds.) seems like a good idea.
I like Option 3 the best. Then 1 and then 2. I agree with what the class discussed on the matter of how to choose them (students vote and teachers organize/break ties and anything else that might be needed).
3,1,2. I agree that the method discussed in class sounds good, online vote then you guys decide.
I like option 3 the best, because it would mean that we would be able to discuss the most thought provoking projects in greater detail. After that, I would take option 1 before option 2.

Reasons for this:
Something in me simply balks at the idea of splitting into two groups – I’m not sure why. I like three because it means we can actually have a discussion and not simply have a really fast flow of short ideas. I wonder, though if a reason I (and other people) like three is the possibility of me not presenting. I wish more people had explained their reasoning. Perhaps a solution to this is to require some (appropriate) work of the non-presenters – to be more fair and also involve the audience more.
How to go about it: I tend to think voting is a good way to do things. However – I was talking to my mother about the way this class is run and she thinks that teachers are simply shirking work when they make students pick things. I’m not saying she’s right – but it did make me wonder whether it might be more interesting if the professors picked who presented. I’m also thinking about watchmen – which I didn’t like and the fact that it was picked by majority vote and handmaid’s tale- picked (I think) by the professors that I loved. Why is what a majority vote chooses going to be the most interesting? What makes people (me included) think this? Does anyone have any thoughts about this? At this point I’m not in favor of the class voting – but that could change; I would love to hear what people think about majority voting.
I think we’ll definitely get better depth if we go with option 3 – after that I’d say 2, 1, mostly based on how much we could discuss each project.
