This is amazing Marwa. I’m really intrigued by the premise of this presentation. I feel like it was informative, but not overly so. I’m hooked ^_^ I’m especially impressed by the graphics for the game you created. It’s a very pertinent point that there needs to be more research into the creators of the games as well as the consumers. Awesome questions!
A very interesting presentation. I’m curious about how your team decided to create the game they did. Were the members “stereotypically” female or did the constructs of the technology make it easier not just to create male characters, but also a simpler storyline? Would the technology allow for more complex choices? Or does creating complex choices make the programming too difficult? I think you’ve certainly hinted at the problems with creating a game without gender binaries and you even say that female characters are hard to create, but you didn’t speculate too much on what your own answers to the questions were. What technological and sociological factors went into the decisions you made? Do you think others would make decisions in similar ways? Or maybe you might make it clear that this class has made you consider or should make us consider what restrictions are in place on game developers and whether those restrictions are based on technology or sociological conditioning or, (more likely) some combination.
